Opportunities for Service and Fun
Christ calls us to serve - and service can be a lot of fun. Here are some of the ways
you can get involved at Heritage. Come to Committee night (first Monday of each month
at 6:30 PM at the church), contact the Elder in charge of each committee, or contact
Pastor Beverly for more information.
Worship Committee Projects
- Join a choir - Sanctuary, Children's, or Tone Chimes
- Prepare communion
- Plan worship services
Christian Education Projects
- Teach Sunday school
- Supervise children's church
- Assist with vacation Bible school
Mission Committee Projects
Plan events, raise funds, or be a liaison with mission
organizations. Purchase fair-trade coffee. Our current mission projects include:
- Heifer Project
- Solano Woman's Shelter
- Habitat for Humanity
- Peacemaking
- Presbyterian Coffee Project
- One Great Hour of Sharing
- Trick or Treat for Unicef
- PCUSA new church growth, disaster relief, retired pastor's support, support and scholarships for Seminaries
Fellowship
- Plan and setup for potlucks and events
- Participate in dinners for eight
Membership
- Assist Deacons with parishioners in need of help
- Participate in Reach Out task force: build float for next July 4th parade, assist at a farmer's market booth, invite friends to visit
Stewardship
- Assist with accounting/recordkeeping
Building and Grounds
- Help out on clean-up days
- Playground tasks: build a ramp and retaining walls, finish the picnic area, ball court, horseshoe pit, game area for older kids and adults, barbecue pit
- Grounds: Help with garden design and implementation, building maintenance, weed suppression
- Kitchen: Raise funds to bring our design to life
Nominating
- Serve on the Nominating Committee
Church governance
- Volunteer to be an Elder or Deacon
