To help protect the community during the COVID-19 outbreak we must cancel all worship services and gatherings until further notice.

A message from Pastor Henry Sun:

Pastor Henry Sun

These are uncertain, abnormal, and anxious times. Session and I are acutely aware of this, and we want to keep you informed about how we are planning to navigate these uncharted waters until the COVID-19 virus has come under control.

With respect to worship, in-person worship services are cancelled for the duration of Solano County’s shelter at home health order. Session is acutely aware that this will be a disappointment to some members of the congregation, so it is exploring the option of joining with Community Presbyterian Church’s live-stream service. No decision has been made as of this moment, and we will keep you posted towards the end of the week about that decision.

With respect to congregational care, Session will do what it can to help meet the grocery and pharmacy needs of those members who are self-isolating. If you need this kind of assistance, please call the church office and leave a voicemail message; voicemail messages are automatically forwarded to Pastor Henry’s email, and he will route them appropriately.

With respect to our tenants, Session will allow each group to make its own decision about whether to hold or cancel meetings in Heritage Hall. We’ve placed cleaning supplies for them to use and have requested that they wipe down surfaces, including the bathroom, when they are finished.

With respect to needs in Benicia as a whole, Pastor Henry is working with several area churches and the Benicia City Council to get a food distribution network up and running for vulnerable groups. If you would like to contribute financially or via a food donation, please contact Pastor Henry for additional details.

The situation around COVID-19 is changing rapidly, almost daily, it seems. By the time you receive this communication, the situation may have changed again. Session’s decisions represent our best attempt to navigate this time with the information that we have. As we continue to monitor the situation, we covet your prayers and your patience as we seek to do what is best for our church family as a whole.

In closing, we want to remind you to be ever mindful of each other, supporting one another in prayer, and reaching out to each whenever and however we can safely do so (phone call, social media, cards or letters, etc). And “may the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:5-6).

Love always, and on Session’s behalf,

Pastor Henry Sun

Please join us for worship at 10:00 Sunday morning after the COVID-19 outbreak subsides.
